Cendana Auto FFR meant for the Unifil mission. BTDM

SHAH ALAM: Last year, Malaysian Defence posted a story on a tender for 153 Fitted For Radio (FFR) vehicles for the Army. The tender came some two years after the Army floated another tender for 40 FFR which was awarded to Cendana Auto Sdn Bhd in 2020.

Cendana Auto was also awarded a slew of contract of one-tonne vehicles including FFRs for the Joint Force Command; Special Operations Vehicles; Mortar Transporter and Weapons Carriers. Cendana designated these vehicles as FFR, SOV SF-21X, Mortar MT-815 and the Armed Tactical Ground Vehicles (ARTAC). According to Shephard, the 207 vehicles awarded to Cendana would be delivered this year.

What about the 153 FFR tender then? I am being told that there is no winner yet although seven companies entered the tender with bids from RM55 million to RM73 million. I was told it was just like the SPH tender, no decision has been taken yet.

From the tender bids, the cost of each FFR is from RM360-480k. Does the bids include the radios inside the FFR? Or those radios are GFE?

  3. No, it doesn’t have a semi automatic loader. If you read back my story on the tender of these vehicles I wrote that the requirements for a dismounted mortar

  4. You are right, I came to that conclusion of a dismounted mortar too. The Cendana Auto 81mm mortar carrier according to another report carries 6 crew and 90 rounds. They won’t be able to accommodate a mortar as well if it’s a 4×4!

  5. A semi automatic loader will also meant that the crew will be smaller as there is no one to be going around to carry the ammo.

  6. i’ve google the cendana manufacturing plant in semenyih and its small doesn’t seem convincing to delivers 207 vehicles this year?. I hope im wrong though.

  7. By the way

Who are the one that asked about the mortars, because I am sure I am not the one.

I do know that the vehicles will be carrying a normal dismounted 81mm mortar.
