SHAH ALAM: PM9 Sworn in. Former DPM and Defense Minister DS Ismail Sabri Yaakob, 61, was sworn in today as the country’s ninth Prime Minister. Ismail Sabri is the third PM after the May 2018 general elections, with Tun Mahathir Mohammad and TS Muhyiddin Yassin preceding him.
With the swearing in of PM9, the spotlight now falls on the Cabinet lineup, and for us the ministers for the national security cluster, defense and home.
I am still off the opinion that Ismail Sabri should also be the defense minister though this is highly unlikely. It is likely that the Padang Tembak job will go to one of his Umno colleagues, though I am not guessing who will that be.
It is unlikely to be former ministers like Hishammuddin Hussein,Zahid Hamidi and Najib Razak for various reasons already explained in the previous post.
As for the Home Ministry job, it is likely to be one of the jobs going to Bersatu, the other linchpin party of the current Perikatan National. It could be the immediate former minister, Hamzah Zainuddin. It is unlikely former Home Ministers including Muhyiddin and Hishammuddin will be considered for the job. I guess we will have to wait and see then.
