Still MIssing Part III

The Bernama (Malaysian National News Agency) report is self-explanatory. But the first para is quite misleading, its sounded almost celebratory. There is no celebration just closure.

Big Break In RMAF’s Missing Hawk Search
KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) — After 27 days of futile search for the Hawk 208 fighter aircraft and its pilot, there is now renewed hope as more components of the aircraft were found at the beach in Kampung Pantai Lanjut, Kuala Rompin.A group of fishermen yesterday found the aircraft’s external fuel tank, inboard pylon, hellhold panel and dragchute, raising optimism that the search operations are closing in on the wreckage.A statement from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) also stated that early today the fishermen also discovered metal pieces belonging to the aircraft at the location.Following the discovery, the search now is focusing on waters where the parts were found. On March 31, the aircraft piloted by Mej. Muhammad Rohaizan Ab Rahman lost contact with the control tower in Kuantan while flying over Rompin waters. Efforts to locate the pilot and aircraft proved futile with only parts of the wing section discovered about 7.5 nautical miles from Kuala Rompin the following day.The statement said the RMAF had also sought help from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to obtain better aerial view using the Forestry Faculty’s aeroscan.Other than the special air unit (Paskau), it said the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and Malaysian marine police were also involved in the search operations.”The operations utilise a Cessna, a Nuri and Fenec helicopter, a beachcraft and vessels from RMN and marine police,” the statement added.– BERNAMA
