SHAH ALAM: The Defence Ministry has issued a competition for the supply of five units of pressure generator tank for the SAR capable Nuri replacement project. The advertisement for the tender was issued on May 18 and closes on June 17.
The tender specifications stated:
PEROLEHAN LIMA (5) UNIT PRESSURE GENERATORTANK DI BAWAH PROJEK PENGGANTIAN HELIKOPTER NURI DENGAN HELIKOPTER BERKEUPAYAAN SEARCH AND RESCUE BAGIPERKHIDMATAN TENTERA UDARA DIRAJA MALAYSIA(TUDM).
Units 5. SCHEDULE OF COMPLIANCE (SOC) BAGI PRESSURE GENERATOR TANK UNTUK KEGUNAAN PESAWAT EC 725 AP TUDM
I have no idea what the pressure generator tank does but a quick search showed its a component of the Safran Makila 2A1 turboshaft engine, two of which are fitted on the EC725/H225Ms. Does it means that the replacement of the Nuri is also an EC725, I have no idea. But we will see soon enough as it is an open secret the tender for the leased helicopters will be announced soon.
Anyhow, the Army is also looking for a number of equipment for its engineering units namely excavators, cranes, wheel loaders and even logistic support bridges as part of its Mobility Phase III programme.
For the cranes, the Army is looking for 15 General Bridging Crane 15 Tonne is a truck-based crane used for lifting heavy equipment, ancillaries, and engineer stores for a minimum of 15 tonnes during the construction of bridges in both Combat and Communication Zones to maintain the mobility of ground troops.
Two Tracked Excavator (Medium) shall be required primarily at work sites for large and speedy excavation for drain, ditch,stream, pond, trench, foundation, and other earthworks by dumping of soil, sand, and crushed stones into dumpers and tippers for transportation. This machine shall also be used for lifting and special application with the installation of breaker, pilling, and crusher equipment.
Five The Wheel Loader complete with Back Actor (Light) is required primarily to load earth, sand and crushed stones into dumpers and tippers for transportation within and between work sites. It can also be tasked to do minor digging in the absence of excavator.
Two Logistic Support Bridge is required by the Malaysian Army as a line of communication for single-span range 40 m up to 80 m with a road width of 4.2 m to ensure the movement of troops, combat supplies, and other logistical support to the forward troops from and within the Communication Zone are not hindered by enemy actions.
The specifications above are basically for the Mabey logistic support bridge, which the company says “is the lighter, stronger, modern successor to the original Bailey Bridge developed during World War II”.
