I have been informed of Hasbullah’s successor has been chosen though as the appointment has yet to be announced, the appointment will be made by the King, I will not say anything here until June 11 or earlier if the Defence Ministry made the official announcement.

  • Somehow of late, every turn in change of government entails a change in army chiefs. Coincidental?

Not really apart from the former PAT, this is what happened when you promote someone barely two years before their retirement. The incoming one will also have around two years of service. Just musical chairs really...this is one of the reasons the services procurement are jumble up. Despite sticking mostly to long term procurement plans, a new broom always sweeps too much as well

  • Ahh, I see. Well, Armed Forces chiefs are mostly advisors to the PM & Cabinet. Their roles in that sense would be redundant in peacetimes and besides, its more of scaling up the ladder by seniority rather than accomplishments what with Malaysia not at any armed conflict with anyone.
