SHAH ALAM: The procurement division of the Home Ministry has issued a tender for the supply and delivery of two hundred high-powered motorcycles for the traffic police. The 40-day tender was published on November 22 and closes on December 31.
The indicative cost for the two-hundred superbikes is RM30 million. It is interesting to note that the Army is leasing 40 superbikes for RM13.76 million. The same company had also supplied similar bikes to the police under a leasing programme in 2020.
The Home Ministry earlier this year also published a tender for the leasing of 146 superbikes for the police to escort VVIPs and 35 more machines for security operations. The tender with an indicative cost of RM64.074 million, was subsequently cancelled.

For the designated marksman role, .308 match ammo is the preferred choice.
The belted 7.62mm are for the FN MAG, mostly used on marine police boats and armoured cars of the General Operations Force. The indicative cost for the tender is RM17.515 million.

Expensive bikes just for escort duties as if the vehicles they are escorting going to go at 200km per hour.
By right a 600cc motorbike will do.
apart from superbike, PDRM should also consider supply 250cc bike for regular traffic duty. felt a little bit unprofessional seeing traffic officers using personal bike for official duty.
They have actually bought such bikes for patrol duties.
