
SHAH ALAM: The Procurement division of the Home Ministry has issued two separate tenders for the procurement of machine guns for the Marine police and 9mm semi-automatic pistols for the Prisons Department.
The tender for the eighty-five pintle mounted machine guns, complete with accessories was published on January 22 and closes on March 3, a period of fourty days. The tender title:
PEROLEHAN 85 LARAS SENJATA GENERAL PURPOSE MACHINE GUN 7.62MM JENIS EXTERNAL PINTLE MOUNTED UNTUK BOT RONDA BERSERTA AKSESORI UNTUK PASUKAN POLIS MARIN, POLIS DIRAJA MALAYSIA (PDRM)
Some of the specifications:
The GPMG shall be a 7.62 x 51mm NATO, specifically use for land
and sea applications.
1.2 The GPMG shall be easy to operate and maintain.
1.3 The GPMG shall include a barrel with locking lever, handle, and flash
hider.
1.4 The GPMG shall have spade grips with matching trigger frame to
increase controllability.
1.5 The GPMG shall be equipped with mechanical sight fitted on the
barrel.
1.6 Ammunition. The caliber shall be 7.62 x 51mm NATO.
1.7 The GPMG Operating type shall be Gas Operated.
1.8 The GPMG Trigger shall be manual lever type.
1.9 The GPMG body shall be Black in colour.
1.10 The GPMG shall have an integrated Picatiny Rail for sighting system.
Weight of GPMG shall be between 12kg to 13kg.
1.12.2 Fully loaded weight including GPMG and ammunition shall be not more than 29.5kg
The GPMG shall be able to feed from the left or right
side from disintegrating M13 linked belt (NATO standard).
1.14.2 The GPMG shall be able to feed from ammunition box of capacity at least 250 rounds.
1.15 Ejection. 1 .15.1 It shall be equipped with Link and Cases Collector.
1.15.2 The cases shall be downwards and following the links feeding either
on left or right side.
The GPMG shall have Gun Mount which maximise
both the control and comfort of the weapon.
1.17.2 The Gun Mount shall be includes with a recoil damping system.
1.17.3 It shall have a friction mechanism, controlling pintle head in
elevation and vertical locking pin at elevation of +12° or +50°.
Red Dot Reflex Sight. 1.18.1 The GPMG shall be equipped with a
Multi Purpose Sight 3 (MPS3).
1.18.2 It shall be passive electronic reflex collimator sight.
1.18.3 It shall be able to stand up to heavy weapons recoil.
1.18.4 It shall have manually adjustable reticle brightness.
1.18.5 It shall have accessory rails on the sight allow for mounting IR or
visible lasers.
The indicative cost of the tender is RM23.8 million (RM270,588 per gun) which will include the cost of freight and insurance. The indicative cost also covers the expenses for a four-man team to conduct a pre-delivery inspection of the selected machine gun at the manufacturer’s facility. Training for fifty police personnel and the provision of 5,000 rounds of ammo for the training, locally, should also be part of the bidding cost.
As for the 9mm semi-automatic pistols for the Prisons Department, eighty-eight are being sought for use in its facilities in Sabah and Sarawak. The tender was published on January 21 and closes on February 12.

The indicative cost for the tender is RM598,400 which means each pistol and accessories is RM6,800. There is no need for training or PDI overseas.

Nice thing about the GPMG tender is the inclusion of optics in the requirements, which is way overdue IMO…

Well it depends on the specifications, really, the pistol contract has no PDI so no need to travel overseas.

Its a tradition and we are very steadfast with tradition. The pistol buy tender was too low to include lawatan.
It’s a stupid decision to offset variables like not being able to kaw-tim and side commissions that many departmental higher-ups used to expect and get.
They will just have to make do with lawatans to 1st World countries and paid shopping visits for the wives…
