  1. Where there is smoke, most likely there is fire….

Will this RM 17Bil chopper lease fiasco be PH own 1MDB? Only if the rakyat actually cares about defence matters, which mostly dont, so…

  2. kalau tiada angin bertiup takkan pokok bergoyang… (or probably monkeys in this case !)

Whatever it is, i applaud those that will stand with integrity doing their part as leaders defending our tanah air. Sooner or later we will know the whole truth.

On my part, i still believe that the RM16.5 billion helicopter deal is one of the worse thing that can happen to our countries defence, and any military leader that opposes it is the real hero to the nation in my opinion.

  3. What kind of domestic things that entails removing and replacing all of the military top brass simultaneously? One or two sure, but literally all of the top brass of all branches along with the ATM chief?

Sell it as whatever they want right now, but the real story will come out sooner or later.

  4. No lah, only the PAT is leaving. He is retiring earlier than his scheduled end of contract which is this July. That he is leaving is not surprising, the issue now is his replacement. And it is coming from left field.

  5. Marhalim, why is it considered to be coming from left field? How is it shocking?

Honestly, I’m new to all of the politics in the MAF of this so any explanation by you or other commenters is greatly appreciated.

  6. “There is not much opposition inside Jalan Padang Tembak against the leasing deal”
If looking at it objectively, there isnt a real good reason to oppose. As long as ATM gets free reign to use the choppers whenever they want, its not like they should care whether these are bought, donated, leased, loaned or stolen (okay maybe not the last part).
But as a principle whether this deal is fair to the Malaysian Govt & us taxpayers, perhaps some of the brasses have a different opinion than just the PH line.

  7. “Not by tradition or convention.”
ccmiiw but wasnt the PAT (or previous fella?) had been the left field, being brought back from cold storage soon after PH tookover? So its not like theres no precedence before this. Like all GLC appointments, even military chiefs are politicised to align with whoever in Govt today. Nothing strange in New Malaysia after all.

  8. I see, im not too familiar with TDM hierarchy so unless the appointment is cross branched (say from TUDM/TLDM), or civvie minister as chief (Admiral General anyone?), I may not realise how shocking such a revelation might be, haha.

Altho unprecedented here, I also wont be unfazed if they bring them back from retirement to head the force.

  9. It always been political lah, that was the reason a certain brother in law of the then PM was the PAT almost five years. And the first Malaysian was a nephew to the then PM.
