Armed Forces Day Parade and Open Day

SHAH ALAM: The Armed Forces will be holding a parade and open day at Port Dickson starting tomorrow to mark its 91st anniversary starting this Friday and ends on Sunday. The parade cum demonstration will be held at Kem Segenting, Port Dickson – the road on the way to Malacca this Saturday. Among others the demonstration will display the combat capabilities of the three services.

The open day will be held at the Army basic training centre – Pusat Latihan Asas Tentera Darat -, Institut Jurutera Di Raja and Pantai Cahaya Negeri – just outside the Port Dickson town. The open day will start tomorrow. Be prepared with sunscreen and sun hats though as parking for visitors will be outside the Pusasda immediate area. It must be noted that Port Dickson was selected by the British for a training site as it has the least rainfall annually in the peninsula. This year’s anniversary is being organized by the Army hence the reasons that the activities are being held in its adopted town.

Meanwhile, in October, last year, Malaysian Defence posted on the tender to supply and delivery of HG85 HE fragmentation hand grenades for the Army.

Unfortunately, I did not notice the the tender was subsequently cancelled. A new tender for the same hand grenades was published in December and closed a month later. Unlike the cancelled tender, the replacement public specifications stated that the requirement was for 20,000 HE HG85 hand grenades.

  1. Sunken ship, crashed choppers, lost man. Is this year even something for celebrate? 91 years, not even a jubilee. Might as well keep low profile this year with so many disasters.
