PETALING JAYA: Last month, a tender to restore KD Pari was made public. KD Pari was the FAC which nearly sank off Pulau Layang-layang last November while attempting to chase Chinese vessel. The FAC took in water after one of its shafts dislodged..
Those who wanted to tender for the project was supposed to conduct an inspection of the ship at the RMN base in Kota Kinabalu on March 26. I have no idea whether the project will be given the green light or whether the ship will be scrapped if they decide the cost to repair it will be too costly. The final day for submissions will be on April 19, the final day of DSA 2012. As RMN is running short of ships, one wonder what will be the decision be?
To me they should not even towed the ship back to Kota Kinabalu in the first place, let alone issue a tender to repair it. But thats my take on the issue, they must know more than I claim to know!
